Water Damage Drywall Repair Las Vegas, NV

Water damage is the most urgent type of drywall repair in Las Vegas. A wet wall that looks dry on the surface can have standing moisture in the cavity behind it. Closing that wall before the moisture is gone creates conditions for mold growth within months. We confirm the source is fixed. We verify the cavity is dry. Then we repair.

Where Water Damage Drywall Repairs Come From in Las Vegas

Las Vegas has four damage sources that show up on a regular basis. Each one requires a different approach before any drywall work begins.

HVAC Condensate Line Overflow

The most common ceiling damage call in Las Vegas. Air handlers in attic spaces collect condensation. When the condensate drain clogs, the drip pan overflows and soaks through the ceiling drywall. Homes built in the 1990s in Green Valley, Henderson, and Summerlin North have air handlers that are 25 to 35 years old and at or past end of life.

Slab Leaks from Aging Copper Pipe

Las Vegas sits on caliche soil. Copper supply lines running through or near caliche shift over decades. Pinhole leaks develop. Water wicks into baseboard drywall. The baseboard shows a soft discoloration at floor level before any visible water appears. Homes near Boulder Hwy, Eastern Ave, and older Henderson streets are most at risk.

Monsoon Roof and Window Intrusion

Las Vegas receives most of its annual rainfall during monsoon season, July through September. Storms can bring heavy rainfall quickly. Flat roofs, failing stucco seals around windows, and deteriorated flashing are the entry points. Interior damage typically shows at exterior wall lines or on ceilings below roof low points.

Supply Line Failures Behind Walls

Washing machine hoses, toilet supply lines, and under-sink connections fail without warning. A slow leak behind a wall can soak drywall for days before the homeowner sees any sign on the surface.

How Do I Know If My Drywall Is Too Wet to Patch?

How We Handle Water Damage Drywall Repair

We follow a specific order. Skipping any of these steps is how a repair fails within a year.

1) Confirm the Source Is Fixed

We do not start any drywall repair while a water source is active or unresolved. The plumber, roofer, or HVAC technician must confirm the leak is repaired before we schedule work.

4) Cut Out Damaged Material

We cut the damaged board back to the nearest framing member or to solid, dry material. We do not skim over brown rings.

2) Verify the Cavity Is Dry

We use a moisture meter on the drywall surface and, where accessible, on the framing behind it. A reading above the dry threshold means we wait. This is not optional.

5) Install New Board

We hang new board at the correct thickness to match the surrounding panels. For ceiling work, this means half-inch board on standard joist spacing or five-eighths-inch board where fire code or span requires it.

3) Assess the Damage

We look at how much board was affected and whether the paper facing is intact. The Gypsum Association notes that the paper facing gives gypsum board most of its structural strength. If the paper is delaminating or the core is crumbling, the panel is replaced, not patched.

6) Tape, Float, and Texture

We tape the seams with fiber mesh tape, apply joint compound in thin coats with drying time between each, and finish with texture matched to the surrounding surface.

We do not close a wet wall

If the moisture meter reads above the dry threshold, we wait. We do not schedule a repair before the source is confirmed fixed.

We do not skim over brown rings

A ring stain in gypsum board is mineral deposits from the water. Painting over it causes bleed-through within months. We cut out the stained section.

We do not close a wall over mold

If we see evidence of mold, we stop and tell you. Mold remediation is a separate scope requiring a certified contractor. We do not work over it.

Can You Repair Water-Damaged Drywall Without Replacing the Whole Wall?

How Long Does Water Damage Drywall Repair Take?

What We Do Not Do on Water Damage Jobs

Choosing a water damage drywall repair company shouldn’t feel like a gamble. Here’s what actually sets our approach apart, from how we diagnose the damage to how closely we match your home’s existing texture and finish.

We Do Not Close a Wet Wall

Not every water stain shares the same cause. We check whether the drywall can be dried and repaired, or whether the damaged section needs to be removed, before recommending a fix.

We Do Not Skim Over Brown Rings

Our repairs are feathered, sanded, texture matched, and prepped for paint. The goal is a wall that looks untouched once we’re done, not a visible patch you’ll notice later.

We Do Not Rush Between Coats

Las Vegas has four water damage sources that show up on a regular basis. HVAC condensate line overflows are the most common ceiling damage call, especially in 1990s homes in Green Valley and Summerlin with aging air handlers. Slab leaks from copper pipe in caliche soil cause baseboard damage in homes built before 2000. Monsoon season from July to September brings heavy rainfall that enters through flat roofs and window stucco seals. Supply line failures behind walls soak drywall for days before any surface sign appears.

Frequently Asked Questions

We check for visible mold and use a moisture meter on the affected area. If we see evidence of mold growth, we stop work and inform you. Mold remediation is a separate scope requiring a certified contractor. We do not close a wall over visible mold.

Once the plumber confirms the source is fixed, we check moisture levels. Most slab leak repairs are ready for drywall work within three to seven days, depending on how long the area was wet and how well the subfloor dries. We use a moisture meter to confirm, not a calendar.

Only if the texture does not match. A proper repair with a matched texture is not visible after painting. We sample your existing texture before applying anything. If the surface around the repair has been repainted many times, we note that during the estimate.

Yes. If the entry point has been sealed by a roofer or stucco contractor, we repair the interior drywall. We do not work on the exterior. We do not repair the drywall before the exterior entry point is closed.
